Ruth Evelyn Black
July 12, 1920 - February 08, 2009

Ruth Evelyn Scott Black, 88 of Melbourne, Florida and formerly of the Ranger Community of Murphy, NC went to be with her Lord Sunday, February 8, 2009, at her daughters home in Melbourne, Florida.

She was a native of Sinks Grove, West Virginia. Her and her husband opened Inglis Motel in Inglis, FL, then she had worked as a bookkeeper at a Opticians Office for several years and then for Venice Isles Mobile Home Park before retiring to Murphy, NC. She was the daughter of the late Pascal P. Scott and Etta Harttman and she was preceded in death by three brothers, Mason, Ernest and Charles Scott and two sisters, Reva Lockhart and Hazel Duffy.

Ruth is survived by her husband of 63 years, Irving Thomas Black; a son, David Ashley Black of Venice, Florida; a daughter, Beverly Jean Jones and her husband, Brooks of Melbourne, Florida; two grandchildren, Christopher and Amanda; two great grandchildren, Connor and Alex and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, February 13, 2009, at the Ranger United Methodist Church in Murphy, NC. Rev. R. Perry Brown will officiate. Interment will be in the Ranger United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Friday, February 13, 2009, at the Ranger United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent In Memory of Ruth Black, c/o VITAS Hospice of Melbourne, 4450 W. Eau Gallie Blvd. Suite 250, Melbourne, FL 32934.

CHARLES R. SWAIN, 63, of Fayetteville, Ohio, died Sunday. Mr. Swain was a retired truck driver and veteran of the Korean War. Graveside service: 1 p.m. Thursday at Ashley Union Cemetery, Ashley, Ohio. Arrangements: Thompson- Stevens Funeral Home. Memorials: Hospice of Wilmington or Clermont Mercy Hospital.
