Laura Viola Scott, 88 of Amarillo died Wednesday, April 12, 2006.

Graveside services were at 3 p.m. Monday in White Deer Cemetery in White Deer with the Rev. Alan Wilson, pastor of First Baptist Church of White Deer, officiating. Arrangements were by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Mrs. Scott was born Dec. 6, 1917, in White Deer to Katie McDaniel and Robert Alva Holmes.

She grew up in White Deer and attended Chillicothe Business College in Missouri before graduating from West Texas State University with a business degree in 1942. Mrs. Scott worked at the Psychiatric Pavilion from 1977 until her retirement 14 years later.

She married Beecher B. Scott on Aug. 18, 1951. He preceded her in death in January 1985.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Robert Don Holmes.

Survivors include second cousins, Larry Holmes and wife Darlene of Pampa, Donnah Hood of Amarillo and Sue George; cousins, Almerene Shipman of Oklahoma City, Norma Lutonsky and Loyd McDaniel, both of Elgin, Okla., and Evelyn Turner; special friends, Terry and Tessie Hays; and special friends and caregivers, Joseph Ramirez and Andrew Belter.
