[Lahoma Sun, Lahoma, Garfield Co., OK, November 5, 1909, page 1]

DEATH OF M. G. SCOTT

Mathew G. Scott was born in Monroe Co., WV, April 17, 1862, and died at his home near Meno, Tuesday morning, Nov. 2, 1909.

The greater portion of Mr. Scott's life was spent in West Virginia. He was married to Miss Annabell F. Emmons who survives him, 25 years ago, the 1st day of May.

Twelve children were born to this union, three of them having preceded the father to the grave. The others, with the exception of the oldest son Winfield of West Virginia, were with him at the time of his death.

Mr. Scott came to Oklahoma one year ago, hoping to regain his health, but the relief was only temporary.

Funeral services were conducted at Pleasant Valley Christian church by his pastor, Carl Hibbs, Wednesday afternoon at 1:30. Rev. C.E. Burchfield of the M.E. church had charge of the services at Miller cemetery, where the remains were laid to rest. M.W. Wood of Lahoma had charge of the funeral arrangements.

The deceased had been a member of the Christian church for 24 years and lived a consistent Christian life and was prepared to answer the summons, "come up higher."

Besides his immediate family, he leaves a father, mother, four brothers, and a sister to mourn his loss.

Although Mr. Scott had lived here but a short time, he has many friends who extend to the family their heartfelt sympathy in their sad bereavement.
