[THE MUNCIE STAR PRESS, Muncie, IN, TUESDAY, JANUARY 10, 2012] GLEN CARBON,IL--Evelyn Rosalie Ashburn, 88, of Glen Carbon, passed from this life on Friday, January 6, 2012 at West County Regional Rehabilitation Center in Chesterfield, MO. Evelyn was born on May 22, 1923 in London, England. She was a long time nurse at various hospitals, last serving at Michigan City Hospital. She is survived by her daughters, Deborah and (Michael) Sladek of Edwardsville, Linda and (Russell) Smith of England, Susan and (Robert) Waldron-Kelly of France, Rebecca Clark of California; sons, C.M. and (Nancy) Ashburn of Maryland, and William Ashburn of Indiana; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Rachel (Epstein) Maurice; her first husband, Frederic George Worthington, and her second husband, C.M. Ashburn. According to her wishes, she will be cremated and laid to rest in England. Irwin Chapel of Glen Carbon is handling the arrangements. |
