MERRIAM - Robert M. Gaff, 91, formerly of Merriam and currently residing in Ligonier passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at the Avalon Village Nursing Home in Ligonier. Mr. Gaff spent all of his life in Merriam except the last six years he resided with his wife at the Avalon Village apartments in Ligonier.
On March 17, 1918 Mr. Gaff was born in Green Township, Noble County to Milo and Abby (Ott) Gaff. On Novemeber 4, 1939 in Merriam Mr. Gaff married Naomi Keister, she passed away on January 26, 1992. He then married Nada Brown in Ligonier on October 16, 1993 and she survives in Ligonier. In 1984 after several years of service Mr. Gaff retired as a Safety Consulant for the IOSHA Divison of Labor. Mr. Gaff was an avid sports fan who loved the Chicago Cubs. He also enjoyed when his children were younger attending there sporting events and his grandchildrens sporting events. Among his survivors include his wife Nada Gaff of Ligonier. 6 sons and their spouses; Neal and Kathy Gaff of Angola, Indiana, Monte and Nancy Gaff of Churubusco, Lyle and Terri Gaff of Elkhart, Indiana, Martin and Sally Gaff of Kouts, Indiana, Jack and Debbie Gaff of La Grange, Indiana and Douglas and Rebecca Gaff of Rolling Praire, Indiana. 2 Daughters; Julie Gaff of Warsaw and Lucille Gaff also of Warsaw 1 step daughter and son in law; Sammie and Marvin Zelt of Fort Wayne. 1 Son in law; Victor Hiatt of Lagrange. 23 Grandchildren and 28 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife Naomi Gaff Keister on January 26, 1992. 1 daughter Dolores Hiatt in 1997. His parents. 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Funeral Services will be on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at the Ligonier Evangelical Church. Burial will follow at the Merriam Christian Cemetery outside of Merriam. Visitation will be on Friday, March 20, 2009 from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Ulrey - Renner and Brazzell Funeral Home in Ligonier. 705 South Main Street, Ligonier, Indiana 46767. There will also be visitation 1 hour prior to services on Saturday at the church. |
