Descendants of Peter Shriner
Lewis G. Fisher, 85, of 102 Collinwood, retired building contractor, died at 8 a.m. today at the Farris Nursing Home. He had been a patient there for the past four years. Three weeks ago he submitted to surgery and was making a satisfactory recovery. A native of Thorncreek Township, he was born September 22, 1888, the son of George and Zilpha Egolf. He attended school there at the Beach Chapel school. On April 11, 1909 he was united in marriage to Ella P. King and they began housekeeping in Thorncreek Township. A short time later they moved into Columbia City where he was employed at the Harper Buggy factory. After it burned he worked for John Waterfall as a carpenter. Later he entered the contract carpenter work. He retired in 1954. Mrs. Fisher died January 6, 1968. Surviving are two sons, Earl W., 113 Maple Avenue and Dale E., 101 Hilltop Drive; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Heber (Alma) Humbarger, Warren Methodist Home and Mrs. Josephine Anderson, 205 S. Walnut street. Preceding him in death are three brothers, Henry W., Charles M., and Alton P.; five sisters, Rose R. Waugh, Dora Fisher, Blanche Hively, Lizzie E. Fisher, and Anna James; and a great-granddaughter, Jody Lynn Barnum. He was a member of the First Church of God. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Smith and Sons funeral Home with the Rev. Hubert Miller and Rev. Berlin T. Yeager officiating. Committal will be in the Nolt Cemetery. |
