Wilma Grace Judy, 85
Feb. 5, 1919 - March 29, 2004

Wilma Grace Judy, 85, a resident of Columbia City, died at 7:28 a.m. Monday, March 29, 2004 at her home.

Born on Feb. 5, 1919 in Thorncreek Township, Whitley County, she was the only child of Chester and Effie V. (Hively) Hively. Her formative years were spent in Thorncreek Township near the Hively Church and she graduated from Columbia City High School in 1937.

After completing high school, she worked on the family farm until her marriage. On March 24, 1940 she was united in marriage to Fred W. "Bill" Judy and they made their home in North Manchester for a year. Following the war, they moved to Columbia City and in January of 1951 they moved to their home on North Line Street. Mr. Judy died May 17, 1975.

She was employed at Weatherhead from 1943 until her retirement in 1983 and was a volunteer for 15 years at Whitley County Memorial Hospital.

Her memberships included First Baptist Church, Ruth Rebekah Lodge - past noble of the Grand Lodge, American Legion Post 98 Auxiliary, Eagles 1906 Auxiliary, former member of Business and Professional Women, former secretary for the U.A.W. Retirees, AARP and a Lady Shriner.

Surviving relatives include a brother-in-law, Galen Judy of Colorado; four nephews; two nieces and special friends, Kellie (Scott) Deal of Columbia City.

The funeral service is at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 1, at Smith and Sons Funeral Home in Columbia City with the Rev. J. Phillip Blake officiating. Burial is at Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
