EDWARD MERRIMAN
1915-2005

OAKWOOD - Edward G. Merriman, 89, died at 9 p.m. Friday, May 27, at Harborside Healthcare in Defiance. He was born Sept. 18, 1915 in Allen County, Ind., the son of Carl and Edith (Peckhart) Merriman. He married Beatrice Stahl, who preceded him in death in 1987. He was a dragline operator for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, retiring in 1978. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II.

Surviving are one son, Gary (Dee) Mason of Oakwood; two stepdaughters, Mary (Albert) Monroe of Paulding, and Joann (Richard) Martin of Reading, Mich.; three sisters, Emma Porter and Georgia Geren, both of Oakwood, and Jeanne (Lee) Britsch of Cloverdale; one brother, Merle Merriman of Convoy; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by two stepdaughters, Shirley Jean Mason and Judy Kay Plotts; a stepson, Billy Mason; two brothers, Leo and Bruce Merriman; and a sister, Hilda Geren.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. today, June 1, at Den Herder Funeral Home in Paulding with Robert Merriman officiating. Burial will be in the Little Auglaize Cemetery, Melrose, with military graveside services conducted. Visitation is one hour before services today at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to the Salvational Army.
