LOWELL LAMAR SCHUMAN LOWELL LAMAR SCHUMAN, 75, died Saturday at Miller's Merry Manor in Columbia City. Born in Whitley County, he was a World War II Army veteran. He worked at Bowmar Corp. in Fort Wayne for nine years, International Harvester in Fort Wayne for 13 years, and at Weatherhead Corp. and Kilgore Manufacturing, both in Columbia City. He was also a custodian for the Whitko Schools. His wife, Clara J., died in 1986. Surviving are a son, Robert D. of Columbia City;; three daughters, Candice Vardaman of Columbia City, Renee Duggins of South Whitley and Lynn Dunlap of Fort Wayne; a brother, Larry of Del Norte, Colo.; two sisters, Lois J. Tschantz of South Whitley and Bonnie Joan Taylor of Columbia City, 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Services at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Calling from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Burial in South Whitley Cemtery. Memorials to Oak Grove United Methodist Church. |

Lowell LaMar Schuman Columbia City - 1925-2000 Lowell LaMar Schuman, 75, a World War II army veteran, died Saturday, April 29, 2000, at Miller's Merry Manor, Columbia City. The Whitley County native was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church and American Legion Post 98. In addition to farming, he worked for Bowmar Corp. for nine years, International Harvester Co. for 13 years, the Weatherhead Corp. and Kilgore Manufacturing in Columbia City. He was also a custodian for Whitko School Corp. Surviving are his son, Robert D. of Columbia City; daughters Candice Vardaman of Columbia City, Renee Duggins of South Whitley and Lynn Dunlap of Fort Wayne; his brother, Larry of DelNorte, Colo.; sisters Lois J. Tschantz of South Whitley and Bonnie Joan Taylor of Columbia City; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara J., in 1986. Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City, with calling 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be at South Whitley Cemetery.
