REV. J. BEN ELLER (1882-1966) |
The query about Rev. J. Ben Eller, Eller Chronicles, Aug. 1990, P. 120, brought two responses: Vance Eller (EFA board member) from Salisbury had visited with J. Ben Eller and his wife and knew his physician son, Dr. Luke Eller. Vance sent a letter from Rev. Eller. Janine Eller Porter responded with a copy of a most delightful biography titled: THE GEM FROM THE BLUE RIDGE by Ruth Cozart Eller, wife of J. Ben Eller. This book will be reviewed in the Chronicles at a later date. J. Ben Eller was a beloved Baptist minister widely known in Virginia, through out NC and beyond. His paternal grandfather, Rev. Joseph Pickins Eller, of Buncombe Co., NC, was a well-known Methodist minister in Buncombe and Madison counties, NC. His maternal grandfather was Rev. Luke Laban Branson, a Baptist minister. Both grandparents were pioneer preachers in Western North Carolina. We wish to correspond with descendants of J. Ben Eller and Joseph Pickins Eller. We hope a descendant will write a biographical sketch on Rev. Joseph Pickins Eller and submit it for publication in the Chronicles, along with pictures if possible. His lineage: Joseph P./4/ Adam /3/, Jacob Jr./2/, Jacob Eller, Sr./l/. . . . . . . . . . . . . . Eds. |
