JOHN PITT

1602 - In the Survey of the Manors of Brinkworth, Hankerton and Brokenborough, he held land worth 16 shillings as a copyholder (info from Wendy Batchlor Feb ’09).
7 November 1611 - He was a husbandman from Brokenborough when he made his will. He was to leave bequests to his eldest son John and Elizabeth his wife. He appointed his son Thomas and his wife Elizabeth as his joint executors (see will).

1614 - Probate was granted to his will in the Consistory Court of Salisbury (W&SRO ref P1/P/65). His estate was value at £231 12s and x d (see inventory).

22 January 1617 - She made her will in which she left half her goods to her son John and the balance to her son Thomas whom she also appointed as her sole executor (see will).
29 (?) April - She died (see will).
1 (?) May 1617 - She was buried (see will).
1617 - An inventory was made of her estate which was valued at £32 6s and 8d (see inventory).

7 March 1675 - She was from Luckington when she married John Pitts in the Quaker Meeting House at Nailsworth (see register).
6 March 1700/01 - She was a widow from Luckington when she made her will in which she appointed her cousin Francis Boye as her executor. She made various bequests including those to Francis Boye, her late sister’s children Simon and Joseph Boye, Hester Bristow and Mary Burnley, her cousins Christopher, Hester and Mary Young, and Samuel son of her brother-in-law Samuel Pitt, and the poor of Luckington (see will).
12 of 1st month (March) 1701 - She was the wife of John Pitts when she died (see Society of Friends Register).
15 of 1st month (March) 1701 - She was buried (see Society of Friends Register).
1 December 1701 - She was the wife of John Pites when she was buried at Luckington (info from Wendy Bachlor 9/3/09).
20 October 1702 - Francis Boyd, a Quaker, appeared in the Court of the Archdeacon of Wiltshire in connection with his role as executor of Mary’s will. He was given until the 25th December to make a full inventory of her estate (see will and probate records).

6 November 1707 - She made her mark when approval was granted to the administration bond and inventory relating to her husband Samuel’s estate by the Archdeaconry of Wiltshire (see bond and inventory).
1712 - She was left 1/- in the will of her sister-in-law Sarah Pitt (see will).
3 January 1728/29 - She made her mark when she made her will. She appointed her granddaughter Lydia (daughter of her son John) as her sole executor to whom she left her messuage or tenement known as Harris’ including all outhouses, garden, and orchard, all her household goods, stock, money, bills and bonds. She left five shillings each to four grandchildren, Samuel Pitt son of Samuel, Samuel Pitt son of John and Samuel and Simon Pitt sons of Simon, who were to carry her coffin. She also left a shilling to each of her children and her other grandchildren (see will).
19 September 1729 - She was a widow when she was buried at Brokenborough parish church (see parish register BTs).

24 January 1711/12 - She was a spinster from Brokenborough when she made her last will and testament. She made her mark on the will. She wished to leave a shilling each to her sister Elizabeth Eaket, Sarah, wife of John Baily, her sister-in-law Lidia Pitt, and her cousins Joseph and Henry Pitt, Craset Bidle, Elizabeth Croom, Lidia Pitt, Mary Canter and Samuel Pitt. She wished to leave the leasehold house in which she lived, along with all her household goods, to her cousin Sarah Davis. She wished to leave her leasehold estate known as Backridge Mead and Hill to her cousin Simon Pitt provided that he made a number of payments to his brother John. She wished to appoint Simon Pitt and Sarah Davis as her executors (see will).
6 May 1712 - An inventory was made of her estate by Henry Speck and Robert Jefferis. It was valued at £105 (see inventory).

5 February 1737 - He was a yeoman from Hankerton with leasehold estate in Brokenborough and Hankerton when he made his last will. He left bequests to his children John, Joseph, Sarah and Samuel as well as his wife Sarah (see will and transcription).
3 December 1737 - He died (see Nailsworth Quaker register).
5 December 1737 - He was buried at Hankerton (see Nailsworth Quaker register).
13 July 1738 - His will was proved in Devizes before Revd John Norris. Samuel Pitt (his son) was his executor (see will and transcription).

Also, she was to receive all the household goods and implements that were in the Brokenborough house before their marriage (see will and transcription).
