Instructions for downloading your copy When you receive an email with a link for a new version of an eBook, you should follow these steps to have a private copy on your computer: 1) Click on the link shown in the email. 2) When that screen opens, there are a number of icons across the top of the screen, click on the icon for Download 3) Select save file 4) When the file is down loaded, you will see an icon at the top of your screen that looks like a box with an arrow pointing down into the middle of the box. Click on this icon and you will see the file that was just downloaded, drag this file to your desktop. This file will be a ZIP file. Unzip this file to obtain the contents which may be one or more PDF files. A second PDF file of the Index from the eBook may be included for your use if you require it at the same to be able to view the Index and pages in the eBook simultaneously. 5) Double click on the file eBook XXXX to open it with your PDF reader. I prefer to use Adobe Reader as it allows me to view small thumbnail images of each page on the left side of the screen. 6) To find the section associated with your family, go to the index and find you name. Jot down on a piece of paper what pages your name is found on. These page numbers are with reference to the numbered pages. Look at the start of the eBook and find what PDF page the numbered pages start at. If this number is 10 then there are 9 pages at the beginning, to find the PDF page associated with the page shown in the index you have to add 9 to the number. If index shows page 75 then the PDF page is 84. In the reports for your family line, the first occurrence of your name will be where you are a child in your parent’s family, the second occurrence will where you are the head of the family. Using this approach, it is possible to work backwards or forwards in the document by following these numbers. The significance of the numbers is only done by the program that keeps track of the number of descendants from the starting person in that section of the report or that Chapter. If I were to do a report on the descendants of the earliest known person for this family in my database then the final person listed would have a number that is the total number of people in that report. If the number was 1760 then the initial person had 1759 descendants. Since this page opened in a new screen, you can either delete the tab or select the tab for the screen that sent you to this page.
