New Additions

This section has been added to give further explanations on additions and to clarify how my database at WorldConnect (WC) works.

17 Mar 2012: The database at WorldConnect, aek740a, has some very non-standard surnames. These surnames called a Root are shown at the start of many family lines and are of the form 00Root-xxxxx, where the xxxx is the surname being traced. By having the two 00 at the start they are always at the top of any index list and are identified as the Root of the name that follows. This has no meaning for anything other then it allows me to keep track of different family lines with the same surname that may or may not be related. All I do is to add pseudo-children to the Root name and these Branches are all made adopted so they do not cause interactions between those in one branch and another.

In the case where Y-Chromosome DNA testing has been done the branches are used but the pseudo-children are not adopted as the lines share a common male ancestor sometime in their distant past. The results of a kinship report that gives results that have to go back to the Common Branch ancestor will be in error for the number of generations but until the genealogy programs have some new option for this case, it is the best that I can do.

10 Mar 2012: Some very valuable information(items #24 & #25) for users can be found in the section on "Searching Your Roots". This is important reading for any genealogist and is especially true today with the proliferation of online databases and the so called "Green Leaves" that indicate that others have info on your lines.
