Michael III (the Drunkard), Byzantine Emperor: d. 867.

With his uncle, Bardas, he made an expedition against the Bulgarians in 861 and converted the king of Bulgaria. In 866 he associated Basilius the Macedonian with himself in the government and was assassinated by him the next year.
