Estate of Peter W. Voorhees, Jacob Snyder Admin.
At this day comes Jacob Snyder and presents to the
court the following petition to wit: To the Hean
judge of said court, the undersigned would respectfully show that
on the 5th day of the present month, Peter W. Voorhees
late of said County deceased laving no will in writing
That he left at the time of his death personal property
amounting to about two thousand, that there is no person
legally authorized to take charge of said estate, and that
the same is liable to unavoidable waste by resaon of the
same that he left a widow and three infant children and
the said widow has declined taking out letters of
administration on said estate that the brother of the
deceased now residing in Indianapolis has also declined
and requested together with the said widow whose
relinquishment is in writing and herewith filed that the
undersigned would take out letters and accept the appointment
of Admin of said estate he would further shows that to the best
of his knowledge and belief there is  no person in the county either
next of kin or creditor competent to take out letters of
administration on said estate he would still further
show that he was a brother in law of the decedent
of that great confidence of trust was repored in him by the
said brother in law of that before his decease
the greater part of the money he had in
his hands at the time was placed by him in the hands of
the undersigned for safe keeping the premises being considered
the undersigned would therefore respectfully pray your honor
to appoint him or some suitable other person as administrator
of the said estate of said Peter W. Voorhees decd and that
you will make such att* further under in the premises as
to your Honor may seem just and proper

Subscribed and sworn to in open court this 24th day of April 1856
Amos R. Coward Clerk
and the court having seen and heard said petition approve the
same and for the reasons therein set forth appoint the said Snyder
Adm'r of the estate of Peter W. Voorhees decd and said Snyder accepts
of said appointment and enters into bond in the sum of $4000 with
Thomas Keck and Samuel Lamturtson as his duties who
are approved as of *** and thereupon said Snyder subscribes and
is sworn to honestly and faithfully discharge his duties as such
administrator and letters of administration are issued and delivered to
him upon said estate in due form of law by said court
And afterwards to rest on the 1st day of February 1855
Before the Hon John S Reid judge as aforesaid: At this day
comes said Adm'r and presents to the court the following report to wit:
