The Project General Fund

Each surname project has the facilty to run a general fund. These funds are administered by FTDNA on behalf of each project. The purpose of the funds is simple - to subsidize the cost of tests for project members.

Please consider making a donation towards the growth of our Allison / Ellison DNA project. Any amount of monetary donation, small or large, will be greatly appreciated. In fact, no amount will be considered to be too small. It is to the benefit of all project members that the maximum number of people get tested. If you would like to make a contribution to the Allison / Ellison DNA Project General Fund, there are three ways to do it

Other options include

donating anonymously and without any conditions in regard to the specific participant who will receive a subsidy.
donating "in honor" of someone without any conditions in regard to the specific participant who will receive a subsidy.
donating for a particular Allison or Ellison line in order to further research into your own particular branch - Please contact our coordinator first with the details of the conditions that you wish to set. For example, you might offer to pay for half of the cost of a 37 marker DNA test for a descendant of your earliest known ancestor or for a male descendant of a specific son of that ancestor whose line has not yet been tested. You might offer to pay for half of the cost of a 37 marker test of an Allison or Ellison male who lives in a particular county in England or Scotland from which your line migrated to America, Canada, Australia or New Zealand in order to determine if you share a common ancestor with him. (A 37 marker test costs $189 (US dollars) plus $2 shipping within the USA or $4 for international shipping.)

FTDNA collects and holds the money. It then applies it towards tests at the direction of the Group Coordinator.

At the moment we have $75 in donations from Allison/Ellison researchers in our fund.

We are offering to subsidise 25 marker tests by $20 and 37 and 67 marker tess by $25. The test must be a new Y-DNA test of 25, 37 or 67 markers. Applications will only be accepted from males with Allison, Ellison or similar ancestry. Applications for a subsidy detailing your affiliation to the surname should be directed to our dna project coordinator for approval. Check back here frequently to see the latest news.
