Genevieve Kay "Jenny" Southward

WOOD RIVER - Genevieve Kay 'Jenny' Southward, 89, passed away 8:17 a.m. Thursday, March 31, 2016, at Integrity Healthcare of Wood River.

Born on September 24, 1926, in Pearl, she was the daughter of Ernest and Lavina (Wagner) Stumbough.

A member of the Hartford Assembly of God Church, she served as a longtime Sunday School teacher and VBS instructor and volunteer.

On February 19, 1949, in Hartford, she married Harold E. Southward. He died in 2004.

Surviving are three daughters, Reynae Womack, Rynette Benton, Megan (Keith) Provance; seven grandchildren, James Womack, Craig Womack, Phillip Benton, Kyndal Norton, Ryan Provance, Garrett Provance, Jacob Provance; eight great-grandchildren, Boone, Audrey, Liam and Jose Womack, Nathan Watsek, Noah Norton, Matthew and Dylan Benton; and a sister, Wreatha Grover.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; brother, Dwight Stumbough; and three sisters, Toy Rushton, Wanda Schmidt and Utha Hatcher.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. Monday, April 4, at the Hartford Assembly of God Church. Pastor David Fields will officiate.

Burial will follow in Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana.

Memorials may be made to Hartford Assembly of God Church.
