     Patrick Reidy married Honora Shannahan, daughter of John Shannahan and Ella Shannahan, at St Louis, Independent City, Missouri, USA, on 4 January 1866.5,6
     P Rady was listed on the 1870 US Federal Census in Walker, Moniteau County, Missouri, USA, enumerated 28 August 1870. Also living in the house were H, E, P, E, D and D . Also living in the house were his wife, Honora, his sons, Patrick John and David A , and his daughter, Ellen Reidy. His age was listed as 60. He was shown as born in Ireland. First It is my desire and wish that all my just and lawful debts be paid.

2nd I give and bequeath to my son David Reidy the sum of Five dollars

3rd I give and bequeath to my daughter Ellen Reidy the sum of Five dollars

4th I give and bequeath to Michael Murray one horse bridle and saddle to be selected by my wife and Admistratrix Honora Reidy. And also when my farm is sold the sum of two hundred dollars to be paid him by my wife who will be my Administratrix.

5th I give devise and bequeath to my wife Honora Reidy all my real estate personal property farming implements live stock and all chattles to hold in ?? simple and dispose of as she may deem advisable. To sell and convery any or all of the real estate farming implements live stock and chattles.

6th I appoint my wife Honora Reidy my Administratrix without ???

Be it remembered that on this 16th day of August 1897 before me B N Bybee Judge of Probate Court held in and for the County of Moniteau and State of Missouri personally appeared Jno P Burke and James Walsh who being duly sworn on their oath depose and say that even present and saw Patrick Reidy sign the foregoing instrument of date November 20, 1894 pruporting to be teh last will and testament of him the said Patrick Reidy and heard him publish and declare the same to be his last will and testament and that at the time of so signing the same the said Patrick Reidy was of sound and disposing mind and that ??? and Nora Reidy the other attesting witness to the same in the presence of teh Testator and of each other and the request of the said testator who was at the time of signing thee same more than Twenty one years of age.

Oldest Men in Moniteau County


Last week THE DISPATCH asked for the name of the oldest living citizen in Moniteau county. Two of our correspondents have forwarded names of their contestants. From near Enon comes the name of Mr. Minor Harris, 97 years of age next birthday, November 10. From near Centertown our correspondent sends as his representative Mr. Pat Reidy, 82 years of age. Next week our correspondents will give a brief history of these old honored citizens who, although they have passed the post of an average man's life, and enjoying life hale and hearty.12


     Patrick died on 10 August 1897 at age 83.1,13,10 His funeral was on 10 August 1897 at the Catholic Church, California, Moniteau County, Missouri, USA. The service was performed by Rev (?) Mertzodorf.2,4

Death of Patrick Ready.


     Patrick Readyy died on his farm a few miles east of this city Monday. The funeral servcies were held at the Catholic Church in this city Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Mertzdorf officiating. Some two years ago Mr. Ready had an attack of la grippe and has been declining ever since.
     He was born in County Kern, Ireland in March 1816, being 81 years of age past. At the age of twenty-five he emigrated to America and after reaching New York drifted westward. Locating in this county some 42 years ago, settling east of this city in what is known as the Irish settlement, where he continuously resided to the day of death. He was a typcial Irishman, a dear lover of liberty and American institutions, and a man of honest impulses and strict integrity, well known and appreciated in this city and county.
     His wife and two children survive him, David Ready, who is a conductor of the M.K. & T. Ry.. and Miss Nellie who is at home with her mother. Mrs. M. Kiely, of this city and Patrick J. Doody, of Nelson, Mo., are step-children.
     Those from a distance attending the funeral were: Thos. Hogan, Hughesville, David Ready, Denison, Texas, and P.J. Doady and family of Nelson, Mo.2

Know ye that the last will of Patrick Reidy deceased hath in due form of law been exhibited proved and recorded a copy of which is hereunto annexed and in so much as it appears that Honora Reidy has been appointed Executrix in and by said last will and testament and to the end that the property of the testator may be preserved for those who shall have a legal right or interest therein and that the said last will may be executed according to the request of said testator we do hereby authorize her the said Honora Reidy as such Executrix to collect and secure all and ??? the goods ??? rights and credits which were of the said Patrick Reidy at the time of his death in whosoever possesses the same may be found and to perform and fulfill all things that maybe expected upon her by law and such ?? as far as these shall be proper by and the law charges her
