     Bert was born in Nelsonville, Hocking County, Ohio, USA, on 8 June 1874.3,1,2,4 He was the son of John Mankopf and Lucinda Eggleston.2
     Bert was born in Nelsonville, Ohio. In his early childhood his family moved to Memphis, Missouri. He attended Missouri University in Columbia and Mariom Simms School of Medicine in St. Louis. He graduated in 1897. After his internship in St. Louis, he located in New Haven where he practiced until the first world war. After an honorable discharge from service, he settled in Washington, Missouri where he practiced medicine for 27 years.

Bert's first wife Maude died on August 2, 1939. He married Ella Stoerker on June 25, 1941.

Bert was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical and Reformed Church, St. Peter's Churchmen's Brotherhood, American Medical Society, Franklin County Medical society, Washington Lodge No. 1559, B.P.O.E., Pacific Lodge No. 86, I.O.O.F., and Washington Post No. 218, American Legion.

Bert actively practiced medicine until his death in 1946. He was a friendly and personable man. He was held in high esteem by the community.

He died suddenly of a heart attack at his home on 300 West Fifth Street at 11:45 p.m. Sunday August 25, 1946.

Bert was laid out at Nieburg-Vitt Funeral Home. Services were held at the funeral home at 2 p.m. on Thursday August 29, 1946. He is buried at Presbyterian Cemetery in Washington, Missouri.

     Bert Edward Mankopf married Ella L. Stoerker, daughter of Conrad Friedrich Stoerker and Wilhelmine Cuno, in Washington, Franklin County, Missouri, USA, on 8 June 1941.9,10 Bert Edward Mankopf was honeymoon after 8 June 1941 at Empire State Building, New York City, New York, USA.

     Bert died on 25 August 1946 in Washington, Franklin County, Missouri, USA, at age 72. The cause of death was cardiac infraction.10,11,2,12
He was buried on 29 August 1946 in the Presbyterian Cemetery located in Washington, Franklin County, Missouri, USA.3
