MARY ALTENBERND
Mary Wiltse Altenbernd, 62, Eudora, Kan., formerly of this area, died Nov. 4, 1992, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Warren-McElwain Chapel, Lawrence; entombment in the Memorial Park Cemetery mausoleum, Lawrence. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Martin Luther Home for Retarded Children, Beatrice, Neb. Mrs. Altenbernd was born in Kansas City, and lived in Overland Park before she moved to Eudora in 1971. She was a nurse and receptionist for her husband's medical office in Overland Park before she retired. She formerly was a social worker for the University of Kansas Medical Center for three years. She formerly was a volunteer for the Boy Scouts and the Camp Fire Girls. She was a member of Ivanhoe United Churst of Christ, Raytown, and formerly was an organist for the Overland Park Lutheran church. Survivors include her husband, Dr. E.C. Altenbernd, of the home; two daughters, Anne Wayne, De Soto in Johnson County, and Dr. Karen Parks, Gilbert, Ariz; two sons, David Altenbernd of the home and Mark Altenbernd, Baldwin City, Kan; her mohter, Helen Wiltse, Lenexa; and three grandchildren.3

She was buried in December 1992.4
