George Washington (or Franklin) Reeder married Frances A Rodgers. She and George Washington (or Franklin) Reeder were unable to write.10
According to the 1870 census data for Little Prairie Township, Pemiscot County, Missouri, Francis was born in Arkansas in 1850. This data also indicates that a Mary A. Grub or Green, aged 38 and born in Missouri was living in the household. Francis was unable to write. She was a farmer's wife and they owned no real property. They owned $150.00 in personal property.
According to the 1880 census data for Pemiscot County, Missouri, Francis was born in 1852 in Tennessee. Her mother's name was May and she was also born in Tennessee.
Margie Seago (nee Sadler) was told by her mother Francis Sadler (nee Reeder) that the family did own land. They first lived in Louisiana, then Arkansas, and later on Tennessee. This census data may not be referring to the same family.
According to her son, George Washington Franklin Reeder, there was an orphan, Wiley Rodgers (Rogers), age 7, living with the family in 1880. It is presumed that this was a nephew of Francis. George also believed that his mother was from Tennessee and of Irish and French descent. Francis was an only child. (If indeed, Francis was an only child then obviously Wiley could not have been her nephew.)
The records of William Neale Herrell indicate that one of the children was called "Dutch". Margie Seago (nee Sadler) says that her mother never mentioned anyone being called "Dutch".
Francis and her husband both died in an influenza epidemic around 1899 along with their son Harvey. All three died within three weeks of each other.
Some confusion exists as to what name this should be. Bill Herrell's records indicate the name to be Francis Ann May Rogers. Margie Seago was told by her mother that her mom was Mary Rogers or Mary Robinson. Probably Mary Robinson. Margie has a photo of her grandmother indicating her name to be Mary.
Francis' mother was Irish and French and married a full-blooded Indian when she was 13. This makes Francis half Indian.
