Burton Stoerker, 1948-2017

Burton L. Stoerker, 68, of Ten Mile, Tenn. and formerly of Columbia, passed away on Friday, June 2, 2017.

The family is celebrating Burt’s life privately as he wished.

Burt graduated from Hickman High School and went to University of Missouri where he obtained his degree in mechanical engineering. He was employed by Tennessee Valley Authority for 25 years and then became a contractor for Bechtel Corporation at Watts Bar Nuclear Plant for 7 years. Burt was a proud member of the NRA and Travelers Protective Association. He loved people and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Throughout his life he touched many people and will be remembered by his many friends in Columbia, TVA and Bechtel.

Cindy loving and devoted wife of 25 years survives. Burt is also survived by his mother, Dorothy Stoerker-Peters; son, Corey Stoerker; daughter, Amy (Paul) Atwood; brother David (Cathy) Stoerker and grandson Thomas Atwood. He will also be greatly missed by stepchildren Michael (Lana) Hayes and John (Tina) Dean.

Burt was preceded in death by his father, Lew Stoerker, and sister, Carol Stoerker.
