Yr amcan am
ddarfod y rhan hwn o'r safle yw ddiwedd 2007. Yr wyf yn fodlon
gwneud ymchwiliadau yn yr AE sydd heb eu trawsysgrifio ar gyfer y plwyfi
uchod YN UNIG. OS roddir manylion llawn, gan gynnwys ystod rhesymol o
amser a lleoliad. Gellir gwneud ceisiadau am ymchwil trwy'r bwrdd negeseuon |
I estimate that
this part of the site will be complete by the end of
2007. I am willing to do lookups in the untranscribed BTs for the
above parishes ONLY. IF fullest details are provided, which includes a
reasonable time span and probable location. Lookup requests should be made through the message board |
Beth yw Adysgrifau'r Esgob?Roedd dyletswydd gan offeiriaid pob plwyf yng Nghymru a Lloegr i gadw cofnod cywir o bob bedydd, priodas a chladdedigaeth o fewn ei blwyf yng Nghofrestr y Plwyf. Dyletswydd arall oedd copïo (adysgrifio) y manylion hyn pob blwyddyn a'u danfon i'w Esgob. Adysgrifau'r Esgob yw'r enw ar y copïau hyn o gofnodion y Gofrestr Blwyf. Byddai'r gofrestr wreiddiol yn cael ei gadw yn yr Eglwys, byddai'r adysgrif yn cael ei gadw yn swyddfa yr Esgobaeth. Mae'r mwyafrif o Adysgrifau'r Esgob sydd wedi eu goroesi yng Nghymru wedi eu trosglwyddo, bellach, i'r Llyfrgell Genedlaethol. Ni ddylid trin Adysgrifau'r Esgob fel ffynhonnell a wneith y tro yn lle'r gofrestr blwyfol (darllenwch y RHYBUDD isod). Mae'r adysgrifau yn aml yn frith o gam gopïo, a chofnodion sydd wedi eu hepgor. Ond os yw'r cofnodion gwreiddiol wedi diflannu oherwydd tân, esgeulustod, tamp, llygod eglwys barus ac ati mae'r Adysgrifau yn amhrisiadwy. Fel arfer cei'r llai o wybodaeth yn yr adysgrifau na cheir yn y gofrestr blwyf, gan hynny cyfrifir y gofrestr fel prif ffynhonnell a'r adysgrif fel un eilradd, ond, yn achlysurol ceir sibrydion yn yr AE, yr oedd yr Offeiriad yn ddigon hyderus i sgwennu i'r Esgob ond yn swil o gynnwys yn y cofnod lleol. |
What are Bishop's Transcrpits?Parish priests were required to keep accurate reports of all Baptisms Marriages and Burials in the Parish Registers. They were also required to send annual reports of the entries they made to their governing bishop, these reports are known as Bishops Transcripts (BT). The Parish register would be kept in the local church, the Bishop's Transcripts would be kept in the diocesan (Bishop's) office. Most surviving Bishop's Transcripts for Wales have been transferred to the National Library of Wales. Bishops transcripts should not be treated as substitutes for Parish Registers (see WARNING below), There may be copying errors and skipped entries on the BTs. However, if the original parish register was destroyed by fire, age, damp, hungry church mice etc the BTs are a wonderful substitute. Bishop's Transcripts usually contain less information than the Parish Register (PR), but they may sometimes contain corrections to the PR and occasionally they may contain "asides" which the local priest felt confident in disclosing to his Bishop, but did not want shown in his local register. |
RHYBYDD |
WARNING |
Fel yr awgryma'r enw
adysgrifau o adysgrifau sydd ar y tudalennau hyn. Gan hynny maen't yn
cynnwys ddwywaith y tebygolrwydd o gamgymeriadau adysgrifio.
Adysgrifiwyd y tudalennau hyn o gopïau gwael o hen ddogfennau bregus sydd wedi dioddef ôl amser. Mae natur yr ysgrifen yn y dogfennau gwreiddiol yn aml yn annarllenadwy. Adysgrifau a grëwyd yn bennaf i hwyluso fy ymchwil bersonol sydd yma. Gan hynny nid ydynt wedi eu gwirio a'u harchwilio megis y gwneir yn achos adysgrifau sydd i'w cyhoeddi gan gymdeithasau hanes lleol a theuluol. Am y rhesymau a nodir uchod cil awgrym annibynadwy o'r hyn all fod yn y Cofrestri Plwyf gwreiddiol a geir yma. Rhaid i bob ymchwilydd go iawn i hanes plwyf a theulu ceisio archwilio'r dogfennau gwreiddiol. |
As the name suggests the
following pages are transcriptions of transcriptions, and therefore are
liable to double the chances of transcription errors
My transcriptions were made from very unclear photocopies of very old and time worn originals in which the writing is often difficult to decipher. These transcriptions were made for my own personal use and have not had the scrutiny and verification given to transcriptions published by family or local history societies. For these reasons the following pages can only be used as an unreliable indication of what might be in the original Parish Registers. Serious family or local historians should check the original PRs for their research. |
