~  Nasa Farrow Jennette ~ 

Nasa Farrow Jennette, died Monday ,Aug. 14, 1961, in a Norfolk hospital at the age of 87. He was, during his lifetime, an outstanding leader of Cape Hatteras, formerly served on the Dare County Board of Commissioners and in many other community and county affairs. He was a political leader, and had been register and judge of elections for some 50 years. He had been a commercial fisherman all his life and was active until a few months ago. He was a native of Dare County and resided at Buxton all of his life. He was the son of the late Joseph and Cynthia Gray Jennette and husband of Mrs. Ethel Scarborough Jennette. He was a retired fisherman and a member of the Buxton Methodist church where he taught Sunday School for 75 years. The church named the Junior Sunday School class after him. Besides his wife he is survived by 11 daughters: Mrs. Ruth Quidley, Mrs. Muriel Fulcher, Mrs. Goldie Watson and Mrs. Geraldine Gaskins, all of Buxton, Mrs. Hazel Whedbee, Mrs. Lorena Midgette and Mrs. Elizabeth Hooper, all of Norfolk, Mrs. Richard Austin of Avon, Mrs. Ellena Gillikin and Mrs. Delores Gillikin, both of Ottway, and Mrs. Edith Bradley of Fairfax, Va.; four sons: Calvin Jennette, Joe Jennette and N. F. Jennette, Jr., all of Buxton, and Boyd Jennette of Norfolk; one sister, Miss Ella Jennette of Buxton; 40 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. The body was removed to the Derry-Twiford Funeral Home to be forwarded to Twiford's Funeral Home in Hatteras. A funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Buxton Methodist Church. Burial will be in the family cemetery.
