Notes for Joseph HATCH
Soldier in King Phillip’s War and noted for his skill with a rifle. He could supposedly split an apple at 20 rods. He inherited his father’s homestead in Falmouth and added to it, creating a large estate. Because his children all moved to Connecticut before his death, his property was divided at their removal. There is no will on record; it may have burned in 1825 at Barnstable.

Amy Allen Hatch joined the church at Barnstable and was baptized there as an adult. When the Falmouth church was formed 10 Oct 1708, she was dismiseed to that church.
Amy Allen Hatch was buried in the Old Burying Ground of Falmouth where her stone may yet be seen, bearing the following inscription : "Here lyes ye body of ye virtuous Mrs. Amy Hatch Wife of Mr. Joseph Hatch ye dau'r of James Allen Esq'r Died Fernery ye 24th 1709-19 in ye 47th year of her age - (Falmouth Historical Society. Old Burying Ground Falmouth Enterprise p. 6 1903)
