The ancestors of Jacques de Gillet were French Huguenots living in Guyenne, Bergerac province, France. They fled from France abt the time of the massacre of the French Protestants beg. on St. Bartholomew's Day, Aug. 24, 1572, during the reign of King Henry II of France, and went to Scotland.
