Notes for Simeon TAYLOR
Michaud Email [1023]: Records of New Garden MM in Chester Co, PA give his birth as 3/3/1704, F-Thomas M-Rachel Minshall. Nottingham MM records show that he was reported married out of unity 1/18/1731/2 [means marriage occurred outside of Quaker meeting likely a couple months before]. In 1736 he and his wife were granted a certificate to Hopewell MM. “Simeon’s ancestry was given to me by Thomas Hamm with information from Webster Parry. Other source was “A Mendenhall-Newlin Alliance” by Russell Newlin Abel.”
From Mary Harris: From ‘Hopewell Friends History’ - Simeon was the 1st clerk of the Hopewell MM, having arrived there with a certificate from E. Nottingham dated 4th month, 1738 for himself and his wife. In 1764, Simeon left Hopewell for New Garden meeting in NC, with certificate issued for self, wife, kids John and Ann. (Unclear why Michaud then lists birthplace as Hopewell)
