Jacques was a native of Liebessait, County of Saint Pol, Sur Fromoise,Pas de Calais, France although recent reseach shows that this is most likely a typographical error and it is Sur Ternoise, Pas de Calais, France. The village or Hamlet is now called Pierremont. The family is traced back to 1380 in France. Their moto is ARMOUR TRAVAIL- translated "Love of Work and Knowledge". Jacques Poillon (Poillion) was among the earliest settlers on Staten Island. (
