Notes for John KILBORNE
Of age to act as executor of father’s will in 1500. Appears in the Trumpington Subsidy roll of 15 henry VIII (1523/24), paid £0.2.6 on £5. First appears in Trumpington court records as a juryman on 7 Apr 1530, followed by several other jury listings and a deposition in 1631.

On 28 Oct 1540, the King granted Edward Elrington the lands of the former priory of Denny at Waterbeach. The larger part of the manor was leased in 1544 for 31 years to Thomas Brompton, John Kylborne and John Lynne for 22s sterling a year. John is thereafter taxed at Waterbeach, and appears to have done well, as his tax payment in 1546 is the highest in the parish.

Will made December 1556, probated 2 Jan. His wife Elizabeth made her will the next week and it was probated by 14 Jan. It refers to son John as “Son in law” (step-son) [642]
