Notes for Theophilus WILSON
Found in the records of Ipswich as early as 1636. Freeman at Ipswich on 13 Mar 1639.

Savage’s: WILSON, THEOPHILUS, Ipswich 1636, had perhaps daughter Seaborn, born on his passage, freeman 13 Mar 1639, was constable for long time, and prison-keeper. Had wife Eliz. in 1654, who d. 10 Jan 1681; but she may not have been mother of all, or even any of the children. He died 29 July 1689, aged 88, leaving son Thomas, son-in-law John Pindar, and David Fiske, and grandchildren Eliz. Lovell, Eliz. Russell, and Thomas Pindar.

His will dated 3 Oct 1690 mentions his son Thomas, grandchild Elizabeth Lovel, grandchild Elizabeth Russell, grandchild Thomas Pinder, "and I do make my son John Pinder and my son David Ffiske my executors." Cousin Nathaniel Tredwell was overseer of the will. Proved 31 Mar 1691. Inventory 28 Jan 1690.

NEHGR Vol. 163:11 (2009) says that he d. 10 Jan 1690/91 aged 88, Ipswich, citing Ipswich VR, p. 2:714. I’ve seen two scanned images of that page, and there is no Theophilus Wilson death, nor any death in 1690.
Notes for Elizabeth KNOWLTON
Jane Kenning of Ipswich, in her will dated 14 Feb 1653/4, appointed “my two sisters Elizabeth Wilson and Margery Knowlton” as executrixes. Bequests include “John Knowlton” and “the rest of my sisters children ten pounds a peece Elisabeth Knowlton Elisabth Wilson Seaborne Wilson & Abraham Knowlton, And to my brother Wilsons sone Thomas, three pounds & the rest for my mothers use during her life.” It is not known who Jane Kenning was, and the “sister” and “brother” references were not always specific in the 17th century. [542]

The will of John Knowlton, dated 29 Nov 1653, mentions “brother Wilson” and “brother Thomas Knowlton.”
