Hessian soldiers in the American Revolution

Amboy Center Cemetery,

Amboy, Oswego Co., New York.

Johann Friedrich Luecke, ca 1743 - 1839

Served as a musketeer with the Braunschweig von Rhetz Regiment

Johann Friedrich Luecke, aka: John Frederick Luke; He and his wife died at the home of their daughter in South Gower, Grenville County, Province of Ontario.  I enquired from the caretakers of the Cemetery in South Gower about their burial and was informed that there were no Luke burials there.

However, in 1883, John F. Luke's great-grandson, Lewis D. Luke, erected a large monument in the Amboy Center Cemetery, Amboy, Oswego Co., New York.  He memorialized his ancestor John Luke and his wife Betsey Luke on this monument, along with a number of other family members.  If you are able to include it, the information is as follows:

John Luke died 15 Dec 1839 AE 96 yrs.
Betsey Luke his wife died 27 Jan 1854 AE 90 yrs.
Submitted by his descendant:  Alice Conde Garner, may be contacted through the list
