Jacob Rasnick Cemetery

A Private Cemetery

on his home place in SW Virginia, in a place they called

"Glade Hollow".

JOHANN RUEHRSCHNECK.

He is buried in a private cemetery on his home place in SW Virginia, in a place they called "Glade Hollow".  There are just a handful of people buried there, all family. Anyway, there is a memorial marker there stating that he was a Hessian.

I am sending you a picture of the memorial marker, a photo of the group of his descendants dedicating the memorial in 1977, a copy of the newspaper article that was written by a family member in an effort to try to build up interest and obtain funding for the memorial marker, and a copy of a newspaper article that was written about the dedication.  I have included them not for research purposes, as some of the information in them is wrong, but because they show the interest and pride the family has in honoring our Hessian forefather. If you use these articles, please make some kind of notation that some of the information is inaccurate. I am also supplying general directions how to get to the cemetery. Please use whatever of this information that you like on the AMREV Hessian site.

Located on Rt. 640, north of Lebanon, Virginia. From Lebanon take Rt. 82 to Rt. 640 and turn right. Go a few miles and cemetery is located on the side of a hill on the left shortly before the intersection of Rt. 740.

(This is on private property and permission must be obtained in advance to visit here.)

Also, I'm sending you a photo of Jacob Rasnick's original cabin that was there where the cemetery is located. Picture was taken before 1975 and is no longer standing.
