The Hessians of Upper Canada

The Story of King George III's loyal Hessian soldiers

who chose to live under British Law in a New Land.

Their contribution in the fight for Canada and their part

in settling Upper Canada after 1783. Upper Canada is

now the Province of Ontario, and this book contains

biographies of 190 Hessian Soldiers and the areas

where they seyyled. A short list of some of the names:

The Hessians of Quebec

German auxiliary Soldiers of the American Revolution remaining in Canada.

During the American Revolution Canada was threatened by an American invasion and King George III hired the services of German auxiliary troops to defend the country against attacks. A total of appr. 6000 German soldiers

were stationed between 1776 and 1783 in the Province of Quebec and some outposts along the Saint Lawrence river. An estimated 2500 of those soldiers remained in Canada after the war. Of those, appr. 2000 stayed in Quebec, settled

down and married, and now most of them have thousands of descendants. This book will help with your genealogical research for your Hessian ancestor, and will show you ways and means to find him. Over 4000 names are listed incl.
