CAMDEN COUNTY RESIDENT

            Nola Mae Teachey, 78, of 558 Highway 343, Camden, died Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.  She was born in Pasquotank County, to the late Dempsey Gilbert and Mina Rosetta Irelan Gilbert and was the widow of James D. Teachey,  Jr.  Mrs. Teachey  worked for Hardee's in Elizabeth City for over 40 years and was a Baptist. Survivors include a daughter, Caroline Newby of New Hope; two sons, James D. Teachey III and Dempsey Teachey both of Camden; a sister, Jean Smith of Winton; a brother, Grover Crawford of Wedgefield, S.C.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.  Besides her husband and parents, Mrs. Teachey was predeceased by a son, William Teachey and two grandchildren, Robert Teachey and Frankie Newby. A funeral service will be held Friday, April 16, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Twiford's Memorial Chapel with the Rev. F. Joe Griffith officiating. Burial will be in the Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends following the service in the lobby of the funeral home. Twiford's Funeral Home, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City, is assisting the Teachey family.
