home farm.  She has always taken a prominent part in civic
and church affairs, holding office in various organizations
for many years.

    Ellen Rebecca, daughter of Samuel and Rebecca Lantz
was born April 9, 1864 at Union Forge.  She attended the
best schools of the county and was graduated from Hagers-
town Female Seminary in 1885, being valedictorian of her
class.  She taught in South Carolina and in Hagerstown Fe-
male Seminary.  Dec. 27, 1887, she married Rev.  T. 0.
Keister of the Lutheran Church.  She died Aug. 18, 1898 at
German Hospital, Philadelphia, from an operation for ap-
pendicitis.  She is buried with her husband in Cedarwood
Cemetery, Edinburg.  She had children:

   1. Mary Gardner;
   2. Thurston Lantz;
   3. Rebecca Francies;
   4. Emma Elizabeth.

   Effie Martha, daughter of Samuel     and Rebecca Lantz
was born Apr. 23, 1868.  She attended Hagerstown Female
Seminary.  She was matron for some time at an orphanage
of her Church at Womelsdorf, Pa.  On Jan. 3, 1918, she mar-
ried Rev.  T. 0. Keister, D. D. and lived in Staunton until his
death in 1927.  She now lives at the family home in Edin-
burg.  She is a member of the Eastern Star.

    Susie Hammond, daughter of John Robert and Ella
(Hammond) Lantz was born Aug. 4, 1876.  She married
Robert L. Lambert, an employee at the Bureau of Printing
and Engraving in Washington.  She has one daughter:
   
   1. Lelia, married Ward Nottingham, a successful lawyer,
      of Washington, D. C.

    Lizzie Florence, daughter of John Robert and Ella
(Hammond) Lantz was born Aug. 4, 1876 (twin to Susie).
She married Ira Sheetz, captain in the Police Department,
Washington.  They live at Cabin John Park, Md.  They had
children:
