LANTZ GENEALOGY

         B16             John Lantz              B1

    John Lantz, son of Christian Lantz was born June 26,
1797, in Mifflin County, Pa.  He married Magdalena Yoder,
who died in 1834 at Allensville, Pa.  In the spring of 1849,
Mr. Lantz emigrated to Woodford County, Illinois.  The
family and goods were carried in a "section boat" from
Lewistown, Penn., on the canal westward to the foot of the
Alleghany Mountains Here the sections were taken apart,
each section was loaded on a truck built for the purpose.
The several sections were thus transported across the moun-
tains where the pieces were again assembled and the journey
continued to Pittsburgh.  Here passengers and cargo were
taken on an Ohio River boat and the journey continued to
St. Louis where they were again transferred to an Illinois
River Steamboat and taken up the river to Pekin, Ill.  From
here they journeyed overland to Woodford County where
they settled.  The eldest daughter who had married before
this migration, never left Pennsylvarria.  His children:
Lydia, born Dec. 15, 1824; died July 18, 1890; married David
Peachy, a farmer and well-known Amish preacher of influ-
ence; lived at Allensville, Pa.; no children; Joseph, see
family of Joseph Lantz (B162) ; Simeon, see family of
Simeon Lantz (B163) ; Leah, born Aug. 28, 1831; died
March 17, 1868; married Oct. 1851 Jacob Sommer, a farmer
and butcher; no children; Magdalena, see family of Magda-
lena Hartzler (B165) ; John Lantz, married second wife,
Sarah Hostetler, born 1815, died 1897 and they had chil-
dren; Eli, see family of Eli Lantz (B166) ; Samuel, born
July 10, 1840; died 1888; married May 1867 Emma Yoder;
no children; Melinda, see family of Melinda Moore (B168).

         B17            Samuel Lantz             B1

    Samuel Lantz, son of Christian Lantz was born in
Mifflin County, Pa., Aug. 20, 1799.  He married Mattie Plank,
who was born in 1794 and died 1891.  They lived in West
Liberty, Ohio where Samuel died March 11, 1870. Their
children were: Jonathan, see family of Jonathan Lantz
(B171) ; Solomon, see family of Solomon Lantz (B172) ;
Sam, see family of Sam Lantz (B173); Rebecca, see family
of Rebecca L. Mery (B174); Fannie, see family of Fannie L.
Zook (B175) ; John, see family of John Lantz (B176) ; Levi,
born April 15, 1837; married Sarah Yoder, Elizabeth
Smucker, and Lydia King; no children, West Liberty, Ohio;
Isaac, see family of Isaac Lantz (B178); Christian Lantz,
