John Ira Graham


Area Obituaries - John Graham John Ira Graham, a resident of Park Road, Fulton, died yesterday at Fulton Hospital. He was 67.

Funeral services will be 3:30 pm at Hornbeak Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jobe officiating. Friends may call after 5 pm today.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Sue Parnell Graham; his mother, Pearlean Brown Graham Williams of Mayfield; one son, Glynn Ray Graham, Water Valley; one daughter, Donna Fay Graham, Fulton; one sister, Mildred Halteman, Mayfield; one brother, Claude Graham, Detroit. One brother preceded him in death.

He was born October 20, 1917, to Pearline Williams and the late John A. Graham. He was a veteran of WWII and a Baptist. He was the retired owner of the KY94 By-pass Fruit Stand.


I inherited a newspaper clipping mentioning a State Trooper named John Graham, which I always assumed refered to John Ira Graham. I'm told, however, that its not the same person. If anyone knows who State Trooper John Graham really is, I'd appreciate the information. The year of the accident is not known.

Fulton Man Is Killed In Collision

Fulton, Ky, April 10 (Special) - A Fulton man was killed and two Calvert city men were injured at 2:15 pm Friday in a collision between an automobile and a truck near Cayce.

Carl Metcalf Arrington, 47, 500 State Line, Fulton, driver of the automobile, died instantly in the crash.

Injured were Hollis B. Tarkington, 51, and Jack Doyle, 35, both of Calvert City. State Police said that Tarkington was driver of the truck and that Doyle was a passenger when the accident occured.

The injured men were taken to Jones Hospital here, where their injuries were not believed serious.

State Trooper John Graham indicated that Arrington lost control of the car on a curve on KY-94, about eight miles west of here.

Trooper Graham said the Arrington car cut across the road and traveled 255 feet on the left shoulder, crossed again and traveled 135 feet, recrossed and traveled 185 feet before striking the truck driven by Tarkington.

Then car then careened across a small ditch, rolled over and ended up on a fence.

The trooper said Tarkington had pulled one wheel of the truck onto the shoulder of the road in an apparent effort to avoid the collision.

Arrington, an electrician, is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary Arrington, a son Carl, and a daughter, Linda, all of Fulton.

The body was taken to Whitnel Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.
