The Family of Johnathon Owen and Margery Ivey Owen

Johnathan Owen was born March 12, 1806 in Scotland. He came to America with his parents in about 1818 and settled in Murfreesboro, Rutherford County, TN. He married Margery Ivey there on September 23, 1829. Margery Ivey was born in Ireland on January 18, 1829. She came to America with her parents when four years old. Her parents are believed to be George W. and Martha Lillian Ivey, who are included in the 1850 census of Rutherford County, TN, Burnell District. George is 65 and Martha Lillian is 63 years old at that time. The family is said to have come through North Carolina.

Johnathon and Margery had seven children in Murfreesboro before traveling by mule train to Obion County, TN in 1844. Abram Ivey Owen was born enroute, in Dresden, TN. In Obion County they were members of the Antioch Presbyterian Church located northwest of Union City, TN. They are buried in the Antioch Church cemetary.
