Williams, Commander (Henrico County, VA Colonial Records, Book 5, Page 263)
20 Oct 1704 - Land grant of 396 acres on the north bank of the Appomattox
River for paying passage from London for eight persons. (Va Land Book 9,
1704, Page 25) The old boy must have been pretty wealthy to do this since
I read that it cost about 20 pounds per person to come to the new world -
that was a lot of money back then. Will dated 21 Apr 1731 (Vol. 3, Deeds
& Wills 1727-1737, Henrico County, VA) I am descended from
Thomas' son William, brother to your Thomas Jr. I haven't been able to determine
who Thomas' wife was. The BATT name could have been BATTE (an old VA name)
but I haven't pursued that yet. His son William ANDREWS, 1693-1773,
m. Avis GARNETT. Their son Mark ANDREWS (my 4th GGF), 1733-1820, m. Winifred LYELL (Lyle) Their son George ANDREWS, 1765-1842, m. Sarah Pearson LOCKE (1777-1835) Their son Mark Lyle Locke ANDREWS (my 2nd GGF), 1796-1879, m. Eliza DEAN. Most of the Andrews information came from the Williamson County Archives in Franklin TN.
