George Cordeaux Coates married Zillah Edmonds in 1886 in Leven, East Yorksire. They adopted William Mortimer Coates (born as Hampshire). William Hampshire's natural mother was Alice Edmonds (Zillah's younger sister) and his natural father was George Hampshire.
Although not strictly part of our blood line it would be remiss to omit his contribution to our family.

Commentary
Welwick is 2 miles SE of Partington (between Hull and Spurn Point).
There are differences as to the spelling of Cordox. George C. Coates has Cordeaux. The monument inscriptions in Leven have Cordukes.
Sarah Ann Cordox and her parents were living in Leven from at least 1841.
Sarah Ann (Cordox) Coates was still alive in 1901 and had been living since at least 1871 as an annuitant. Her husband probably died about 1871 as Sarah gave birth to a daughter about this time and she is listed as a widow in the 1871 census.
Robert and Sarah Ann also had 2 daughters Francis Hannah (b 1860, Sutton) and Edith Marion (b 1871, Hull) and a son William (1857 Sutton).
George Cordox (2nd) and Hannah also had 3 sons (George; and William Fox / Edward Fox (twins)); all apparently taking the name Cordukes. William Fox Cordukes died at 28 in Leven.
