  General Notes:

Dan was living with his parents at the time of the 1861 census at Coppice North, Tipton, Staffordshire [RG9/2043/79/11 - surname recorded as Hillingsworth]. By the time of the 1871 census the family had moved to St Helen's Street, Hoyland Nether, Yorkshire [RG10/4650/28/10] and Dan now worked at the forge in the ironworks.
Dan married Bertha Methley in 1870 and at the time of the 1881 census he was living with his mother-in-law and a number of other in-laws at Hoyland, Hoyland Nether, Yorkshire [RG11/4608/4/1]. His occupation was recorded as a Fireman (meaning Furnaceman). By the time of the 1891 census Dan and his immediate family were living at 29 Stone Row, Greasborough, Yorkshire [RG12/3853/116/17] and with his occupation being recorded as a Furnaceman. Living with them at this time was Harriet Radford, born in Hoyland, and recorded as Dan's neice. In the 1901 cesus Dan and his family were living at Mount Pleasant, Conisborough, Yorkshire and Dan was working as an underground repairer in a colliery [RG13/4406/17/25].
At the time of the 1911 census Dan and family were at 20 Plumpers Road, Tinsley, Sheffield and with them were Dan's elderly parents.
