bullet  General Notes:

Benjamin was a general labourer in the Steelworks for most of his working life. His frst wife died at a young age in 1886. He then married widow Ann Baker (nee Miller) in 1887. It would appear by 1901 the marriage had broken down and the were living apart. This is confirmed by the 1901 and 1911 census records and also the record of their youngest son, Wilfred, being sent to Reformatory School for truancy in 1903 where it is noted that his parents had been living apart for 10 years, he was from a very bad home and two of his brothers had been to Truant School.
