The Roman Catholic Church regards Edward the Confessor as t he patron saint of kings, difficult marriages, and separate d spouses. After the reign of Henry II Edward was considere d the patron saint of England until 1348 when he was replac ed inthis role by St. George. He remained the patron sain t of the Royal Family.
