Richard Anthony was born in 1819 in Wichenford Worcestershire.
He could not read nor write and served 5m hard labour in1840 for larceny against
his master on 21 Jul 1840 in Worcestershire. Berrows Journal reports
on Thursday July 30th 1840.
The charge of Richard Anthony aged 18, labourer, pleaded guilty to stealing,
on the 21 July 1840, 4 fleeces of wool, the property of John Seager of Kidderminster,
and was sentenced to 5 months imprisonment. He appeared in the census in 1841
in Cottage, Cotheridge Worcestershire - though his age is wrong -15 should read
25. He appeared in the census in 1851 in livery stables yard, Summer
place (off Castle St) occupation is groom. He appeared in the census
in 1861 in Albert cottage Upper Butts Worcester, occupation is livery stables
groom. He appears in Littlebury's trade directory as a horsebreaker
in 1869 in Britannia road Worcester. He appeared in the census in
1871 in 2 Brittania road Worcester as a colt breaker. He appeared
in the census in 1881 in Albert cottage Upper Butts Worcester, widowed with his
grandson Algernon, occupation horsebreaker. He appeared in the census
in 1891 in Tything of Whistones hospital as an inmate. He died in
1896 in St Oswalds hospital, Tything of Whistones, Worcester. Richard
Anthony and Mary Burrow were married on 13 Jan 1845 in Kempsey, Worcestershire.Witnesses
were Sarah and James Jeynes.
Mary Burrow
(daughter of JACOB BURROW and Ann Apperley) was born in 1816 in Croome D'Abitot,

Wood and his family. His occupation is partly unclear on the census but part
of his job decription is coal merchant. She appeared in the census in 1871 in
Landsdowne House Evesham working as a servant. She died of phthisis,11
months on 21 Jan 1875 in Upper Butts, St Nicholas parish Worcester.
Eliza Budd of Castle street Worcester was present at the time of her death and
the informant.Elizabeth died of a condition that was eventually to kill her brother
