Kincaid, James, son of Naphtali and Christian (Rand) of Oyster River, who had moved to Sheepscot. He and his father and other men were busy harvesting near Ft. George when they were attacked by six Obenakis from Beiancour. His father was killed and was carried away. In an examination to which he was subjected, he is called a native of Piscataquay. He reached Quebec, 28 Oct, 18 days after his captivity.
Pote sayes "came into prison," James Kincaid who was taken at a place called Shipsquit. How wrote that he was much pleased with Kincaid's conversation and deemed him a man of true piety. He returned in the summer of 1747 and the next year, Sunday, 24 Apr, he was killed in another Indian attack.
Note: W. G. Davis (MMF V 1, p 234) says Elizabeth Carr m Napthali Kincaid; however, LND (pp 400-401) shows the possibility that it was his son, James, who actually married Elizabeth. James was captured in 27 Sep 1745 by Indians, returned the summer of 1747, and killed in another attack of 24 Apr 1748. It is entirely possible that he married Elizabeth after his return in 1747 and this is why I can find no children of Elizabeth (Carr) Kincaid.
