When Betty Spicer was released from captivity among the Indians,she
related the events of June 5,1774, the day on which her parents and
five brothers and sisters were killed by the Indians,and she and her
brother,William Spicer were carried off into captivity. She told how
the Indian Chief Logan with another Indian called The Snake left the
scene of the massacre and went directly west,where they met and
killed a man named Keener.

was the son of Ulrich Keener and Elizabeth Ehrehart. Ulrich Jr removed from Lancaster PA with his parents before 185O to Augusta County VA. Ulrich Keener II married Ann(a) Barns. We find Ann(a) Barns listed in the will of Charles Barns filed 4 Aug 1797 in Frederick County VA and executed on 5 Sep 18O3. Ulrich Jr is listed as the executor and the son-in-law of Charles Barns.
Ulrich is found in a poll taken at the election of Burgess in Frederick CO, VA on 18 May 1761 by Col George Washington. In 1774-76 Ulrich Jr is found on the Revolutionary War rental rolls of Dunmore County VA on Richard Campbell's list. In 1775 Ulrich Jr is found in the Dunmore County VA tax rolls.
He removed to Shendoah County VA where we find him in the 1783 census with a family of eight, and appears again in 1784 with a family of eight whites. Next on the 1783 tax lists of Northumberland County VA we find Ulrich Keener with a family of eight. In 1785 we find Ulrich Keener with a family of nine on Joseph Pugh's tax list from Woodstock to the North Mountain for Shenandoah County VA. His name appoears as a wittness to the will of Archibald Ruddell an 20 May 1786 in Shenandoah County VA. He is last found in the 1794 census of Virginia with a family of nine and moved to Washington County TN prior to the 1800 census. Several of his sons had preceeded him in moving to Washington County Tennessee.
He is first found in the Washington CO, TN Deed Books on 3 Aug 18O2 - book 9 page 84 from Joseph Culberson for eight hundred and sixty six dollars and two/thirds of a dollar purchase two tracts of land adjoining each other containing two hundred and thirty one acres lyina an Indian Creek on the north side of the Nolachucky and running to the side of Buflow "Buffalo" Mountain. This deed was wittnessed by Abraham Odel, Joseph Barnes and Reuben Odell. In Deed Book 17 page 197 on 26 Nov 1821 from Humphrey Garland of Carter CO, TN to Ulrich Keener of Washington CO, TN some 36 acres for the sum of one hundred dollars a track of land in the presence of Wm Swingle, Wm P Keener, and Leonard Swingle
He is found as a wittness on several documents in Washington County TN around 1800 and Ulrich Keener Jr is next found on the Early East Tennessee Tax Lists of 18I4 from Washington County TN as having property of 230 acres. He is last found in the 183O census of Washington County TN.

Sebastian was probably pioneering on the west side of the Monongahela River when his brother John was killed by the Indians. He obtained ownership of a tract of land on Whiteley Creek next to Tom Lantz farm, where his brother was buried. He and his wife Margaret, are both buried on this tract of land. He owned land in Dunkard Twp, Greene Co, located on the Bobtown-Garard's Fort Road, at a location known as Keener's Knob.
Sebastian is buried in the Keener's Knob Cemetery along Route 616, about 3 miles southof Garards Fort in Greene Co., Pennsylvania with his wife and several other family members.
