General Notes: Paul A. Bomberger was a very quiet shy person and a perfect gentleman at all times. He studied classical piano when quite young and had his first recital before his legs were long enough to reach the pedals.

"MASTER PAUL BOMBERGER GIVES A PIANO RECITAL
An interesting piano recital was given on Friday evening by Master Paul Bomberger, son of Mr. & Mrs. Horst Bomberger, of Schaefferstown, at the home of Miss Mayme Steinmetz his teacher.
Master Bomberger is only seven years old, but possesses rare talent. He rendered the following selections in fine style:
Loreley, F. Silcher; The Return, Gurlitt; Evening Prayer, Waddington; Springtime Greeting, Baldwin; The Joyous Peasant, Schermann; Spinning Song, Ellmenreich; Dance of the Teddy Bears, Fearis; Home Sweet Home, Runbault."
He lived on the farm, where he was born, with his parents and brother Leon in Schafferstown, PA. His father Horst H. Bomberger owned and ran the distillery (Abe Bomberger & Son Distillery) that made sour mash bourbon. When, Paul was about fifteen, his father had a stroke also Parkinsons disease and was confined to a wheel chair. Paul was made to take care of his father more times than he cared to, and had little time for other things. At sixteen, he ran away from home, changed his name to Frank Smith and joined a circus. When he was old enough, he joined the U. S. Army and eventually became the chauffeur for General Preston Brown in New York.
In 1925, he was impressed by the cook and housekeeper in the Brown household. Her name was Florentine Vernieuwe Kennedy. He brought Florentine and her son Donald home to Pennsylvania and introduced them to his family. Unfortunately he found out that his father had died more than a year after he had left home. He made peace with his mother, left the Army and married Florentine. He tried to make a living in Lebanon, PA, where I was born. After, unsuccessfully trying to make a life for he and his family, he rejoined the U.S. Army, under his real name, and was stationed at the Boston Army Base in Massachusetts for about 15 years. He was then transferred to Concord, NH, where he worked in recruiting until he retired from the Army.
On February 4, 1944, he and Florentine were divorced.
He married Charlotte Coburn, in Concord, N.H. They had one daughter, Barbara. They lived in Bow, a small town just outside of Concord until he died April 15, 1969.

Beatrice Clemmer Reed, 83, of Seven Lakes died on Wednesday (Aug. 18, 2004) at her residence, following a battle with lung cancer for several months.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 21 at Seven Lakes Chapel in the Pines with the Rev. Charles Hinson officiating.
Mrs. Reed was born to the late Harry B. and Emma Kenner Clemmer, formerly of Star City, W.V. She grew up in Point Marion, Pa. After marrying Alston Reed, she and her husband lived in Morgantown, W.V. The family moved to Northbrook, Ill., where they lived for 30 years before moving to Seven Lakes in 1984.
Mrs. Reed was a member of Seven Lakes Chapel in the Pines. She enjoyed spending time with her family and reading. She was preceded in death by her brother, Chester Clemmer, formerly of Point Marion, Pa.
Surviving are her husband, Alston Reed, daughter, Carol Fisher of Bedford, Texas, two grandsons and six great-grandsons.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to FirstHealth Hospice, 150 Applecross Rd., Pinehurst, NC 28374 or to the Care-Net Program with checks made payable to Cancer Care Fund, at 150 Applecross Rd., Pinehurst, NC 28374.

ntbl George Thomas Jolliffe, Jr., 83, of Port St. John, Cocoa, Florida, died in Merritt Island, FL on June 15, 2013. He was born in Morgantown, W.V. in1930 to the late George, Sr. and Georgiette Foisset Jolliffe. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He returned to Akron, Ohio in 1956 with a new wife, Agnes (Jean) Jolliffe. He was employed at the Goodyear Tire and rubber company in Akron until he was laid off and decided to pursue new employment in Washington D.C. as a police officer. He eventually transferred to the White House Secret Service where he served under Presidents Eisenhower, Kennedy and Johnson. He retired from The Secret Service and worked in several positions before relocating to Florida where he worked in the Brevard Correctional Institution before finally retiring from the work force. After his wife Agnes died in 2008, he married Jacqueline Davis Jolliffe, who died in 2011. He is survived by sons Gerald, Robert and wife Cindy, George and wife Jeannie; daughter Barbara Vargas and husband Luis and son Kevin and his partner, Lori Tullis; 11grandchildren, Amy, Jason, Kaileigh, Jessica, Angie, Jenny, Rusty, Brian, Sean, Zachary and Sheena as well as two great- grandchildren, TJ and Denis. Funeral services were held on June 21, 2013 at Raymond-Wood Funeral Home. Monsignor Maurice O' Connell officiated. Interment followed at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD. His sons and grandsons served as pallbearers.
