Died: 05-07-2002 Ivah Kate Parman O'Dell, 87, of Greeneville, died Tuesday at Laughlin Memorial Hospital in Greeneville, Greene County, Tennessee. Mrs. O'Dell was a graduate of East Tennessee State University in Johnson City.

She taught school for 30 years in the Johnson City School System. Mrs. O'Dell retired in 1972 and moved back to Greene County with her husband, Finley Rogers O'Dell. He preceded her in death.
She was a lifelong member of Solomon Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law: Sharon and Gerald Sams; two grandchildren and special grandchildren-in-law: Jason Finley and Erika Sams and Julie Katherine and Charles Lischer; three great-grandchildren: Lily Sams, Meredith Lischer, and David Lischer; several nieces and nephews,
including a special niece: Joan Johnson; and two sisters-in-law: Lucille Payne and Mary Dockery.

Joy was active in the Second Presbyterian Church membership, ladies' circle, and church activities. She became a Life Member of the Clan Hay Society of Scotland in 1970. She also became a Life Member of the American Branch of the Clan Hay Society when it was established in February of 1983. She was a long time active member of PEO Chapter GN; Henry Champion ChapterKansas Society of the Daughters of the American Colonist; Elizabeth Benton Chapter of the Missouri Society of the National Society of the American Revolution. He served his country in the Army during World War II.

He was a member of the First Christian Church; he was a 50-year membe5r
of the Canton, Oklahoma Masonic lodge, 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner.

He was preceded in death by his wife Peggy, both his parents Aubrey and
Julia, two brothers, Curtis Marion and Erwin Lee (Red).

He is survived by his son Bob and wife Barbara of Auburn, Washington,
Larry and his wife Terry of Gresham, Oregon and Garry and his wife Janet of
Portland, Oregon, one sister Laveda Canon and husband Herb of Cheyenne,
Oklahoma, one sister-in-law Neva Parman Churchill of Durham, 12
grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson, anephew

died in 1993.

Richardc C. Butler of Gardendale, Texas and James G. Butler of
Wilburton, Oklahoma; one sister, Irene Beirschmidt of Alva,
Oklahoma; ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Hobert Parman, 80, of Ashland died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2000, at Ashland Healthcare.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, at Robinson Funeral Home in Ashland with the Rev. Fred Martie officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Hartsburg. Visitation will be from 5 to7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, at the funeral home.

Mr. Parman was born Sept. 21, 1920, in Rochester, Ind., to Alexander and Ordelia O’Dell Parman.

He married Mary Lee Walker on Jan. 4, 1944, in Fulton, Ind., and she survives.

He had worked as a carpenter for Gary Naught Construction and was a member of the Carpenter’s Union Local No. 1925. He was a member of the Living Faith Church in Ashland and had coached Optimist Club youth baseball in Columbia.

Survivors also include four daughters, JoAnn Sapp of Columbia, Penny Martie of Ashland, Donna Perkins of Pittsburg and Deborah Melvin of Hartsburg; three sisters, June Smith of Logansport, Ind., Pauline Brineyof South Bend, Ind., and Mary Katherine Walker of Delphi, Ind.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, five brothers and five sisters.
