Don M. Hibbard, 66, died at 4:52 a.m. Nov. 9, 2007, at St. Rita's Medical Center.
He was born May 22, 1941, in Indiana to Clyde and Hazel Stewart Hibbard. His father preceded him in death. His mother survives in Greensburg, Pa. His life partner, Doris Orin, survives in Ottawa.
Mr. Hibbard was a civil engineer and had retired as a self-employed surveyor after more than 25 years. He was a member of Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks Lodge 54, Lima, and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2234, Ottawa. He was a graduate of The Ohio State University. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He helped remodel the Lord's Park in Ottawa.
Survivors also include four sons, Brad (Debbie) Hibbard, of Gresham, Ore., Rick (Julie) Randolph, of Poway, Calif., Brian (Helen) Hibbard, of Crofton, Md., and Jason (Patti) Hibbard, of Delaware, Ohio; a daughter, Jessica (Eric) Schneider, of Orient; four stepsons, Russell (Ann Beth) Kersh, of Whitehouse, Tim (Dawn) Kersh, of Glandorf, James (Teresa) Kersh, of Owatonna, Minn., and Steve (Jodi) Kersh, of Grittleton, England; a stepdaughter, Bonnie Ruhe, of Ottawa; five grandchildren; 13 stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; a brother, David (Betty) Hibbard, of Greensburg, Pa.; and a sister, Alta (Craig) Breisford, of Tucson, Ariz.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Love Funeral Home, Ottawa. Father Tim Knepper will officiate. Burial will be in SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Ottawa.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ottawa Elementary School Reading Program, 741 E. Fourth St., Ottawa, OH 45875; or Putnam County Home Health & Hospice.
