General Notes: Narrative
JOHN ANDERSON STURGILL was born in Ashe Co. NC, but moved to Letcher Co. KY in 1847 with his widowed mother. In 1855 he returned to Ashe Co. where he married his childhood sweetheart, Margaret Jane Cox, his grandfather performed the ceremony. He made his first home in Ashe Co. where their first child was born. In 1860 he returned to Letcher Co. where he lived out his life near Neon, KY. Both are buried in the Joel Sturgill cemetery on Franks Creek in Letcher Co. -pg 104
